About Us

We are a bunch of country neighbors trying to make a living off the land! As you can see from our Photo Gallery, years ago we started out collecting sap with buckets and boiling it over an open fire in a kettle. Then we graduated to a small scale, wood fired evaporator. After a long, labor intensive day of boiling, at best we were bottling a few quarts of pure maple syrup by the evening's end.
As the years rolled by, we collectively decided to move our operation inside and upgrade our methods to increase our rewards. So, our friends, neighbors, and families joined together and constructed a real New England Sugarhouse along the Old Mohawk Trail in Shelburne, Massachusetts. We also added a 3 1/2 by 10 foot evaporator. With the Sugarhouse construction complete, and around 2010 neighborhood taps to provide sap, we look forward to an interesting, and hopefully productive 2010 season!
Maple Sugarin' is a unique, rewarding, and fun family tradition that we look forward to every year. Although it takes a great deal of effort, diligence and time, the rewards of spending time outdoors with friends, sharing in a communal end and partaking in an age old craft are all metaphorically represented in the sweet, sweet syrup that is bottled as the finished product.
